In honor of our wedding being featured on Virginia Bride Magazine’s blog, a word about white…
I love white. I love white as a paint color. I love white as an accent color. I love a white sofa. I love a room drenched in white. No matter the application, white keeps things fresh, clean, and sleek. Lucky for me, white is used just as much in Australia as in the States. Thank you, Aussies, for understanding its value! No doubt this will not be my only post about WHITE.
Whether or not you are a “white” person, an easy way to incorporate a bit of it into your home is with flowers. Some favorites are paperwhites (Narcissus papyraceus), hydrangeas (Hydrangea arborescens), lilies (Lilium), and orchids (Orchidaceae). I hope my avid-gardener mother out there is proud of my knowledge!
A little goes a long way. Try a few low, tight arrangements for a dinner tablescape or tall vases paired with branches to flank a fireplace or front entrance. I also appreciate a small mint julep cup or mercury glass vase filled with white baby’s breath (Gypsophila paniculata) placed on a bathroom vanity. This is an especially nice touch of hospitality when you have guests.
Below are some photos of a favorite flower shop down the street in Sydney, Poho Flowers. I resist the urge to buy from them daily.
And here is one of my favorite pops of white during our wedding weekend, a grapevine wreath at our rehearsal dinner.
What are some of your favorite white flowers? White paint colors? White accents?
