Emily’s love for Southern, classic style began at an early age during her childhood in Roanoke, Virginia. As a frequent visitor to her grandmother’s nearby textile shop, she witnessed the art of blending beautiful patterns and colors to create memorable spaces. She formalized her interest in design during an internship with highly-esteemed local firm Elaine Stephenson Interiors.
Following her B.A. degree in Art History at Washington & Lee University, she gained further experience as Design Assistant to the inimitable Ryland Witt. Emily shared Ryland’s passion for mixing classic and modern elements complementary to each client’s unique personality.
Emily expanded her knowledge in the field by working for world-renowned Holland & Sherry at the Washington, DC Design Center. The textile company’s unmatched emphasis on bespoke products and attention to detail proved invaluable to her design aesthetic.
An offer to work for Kelley Proxmire granted her unparalleled experience in the world of high-end residential design. Emily spent over five years learning from Kelley’s famously “tailored traditional” eye, developing a keen awareness of scale, pattern, and color. Managing a multitude of projects ranging from Nantucket to Phoenix, she applied her creativity and expertise to yield chic yet comfortable, sophisticated yet practical interiors.
Due to her husband’s job relocation, Emily now resides in Sydney, Australia. Never one to turn down travel (or an ocean view), she embraces this experience as a time to hone her skills for merging timeless design with fresh, sleek styling.
